Now Pensions has appointed John Rowland as a non-executive director to sit on its commercial board and replace Bo Foged.
Foged is the group chief finance officer at Now Pensions' parent ATP.
Rowland, who recently retired from full-time work, has held a number of senior roles at various firms.
He began his career in the in the UK Civil Service before moving to Australia to join National Mutual Fund Management.
Following that he spent five years in France and the UK as chief information officer at AXA Investment Managers, before moving to Invesco, where he held a range of positions in the US and UK - including global head of information technology, European chief investment officer and global head of investment operations.
Now Pensions chief executive Morten Nilsson said: "Bo Foged has been a great support through our first phase of growth and his choice to hand over to John Rowland at this stage is well timed. As a senior executive with thirty years' experience in the financial sector, John brings a wealth of experience to our commercial board.
"He has held significant international executive level roles in four countries and has a proven track record of successful leadership in operations, technology, major change and regulatory compliance. We are excited to have him on board."
Now Pensions' commercial board is responsible for the day to day running of the provider.
Rowland will sit alongside non-executive chairman Henrik Ramlau, chief executive Nilsson and Now Pensions chief financial officer Troy Clutterbuck.
Rowland added: "With over a million members, Now Pensions has fast become an established leader in workplace pensions in a short amount of time. It is now very well positioned to grow and develop even further."
The government has confirmed the current interim chairwoman of The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO), Caroline Rookes, will continue the role in a permanent capacity.
