Professional Pensions has won a top accolade at the 24th annual State Street UK Institutional Press Awards.

PP editor Jonathan Stapleton won the Journalist of the Year 2025 award – with judges citing the "high quality journalistic output over the course of his career" as well as "his consistent ability to deliver important industry news and analysis" as reasons for his recognition, saying he also "represented the beating heart of an editorial machine that has developed numerous excellent writers".

The awards – which were presented at an event in London yesterday (30 April) – honour the journalists delivering high-quality reporting across key institutional investment themes, including investor services, pensions, regulation, investments and capital markets, private markets and alternatives, data, technology and artificial intelligence, passive investments, sustainable investment and stewardship.

State Street Investment Management head of EMEA Ann Prendergast said: "We extend our heartfelt congratulations to this year's award recipients and nominees for their outstanding dedication and impact within our industry.

"A thriving media ecosystem is vital for the sector, and it's our pleasure to recognise the contributions of all the nominees for this year's awards."

Stapleton thanked all those who nominated him, the judges for selecting him as the winner and State Street for organising the awards.

He commented: "I'm delighted to have won this accolade, an award which is testament to all the brilliant colleagues and industry experts I have been fortunate enough to work with throughout my career – this recognition belongs to them as much as it does to me."
