UK - Sharmila Soosaipillai has taken up the role of operational risk manager at fund of hedge funds Optimal Investment Services, owned by Santander Asset Management.
In her new role, Sooisaipillai will focus on providing operational due diligence and will work with Rajiv Jaitly, chief risk officer.
Jaitly said non-investment research on hedge fund managers played a key role in the firm's research process. "Most hedge funds do not fail on investment issues but on business and infrastructure," he said. "These business risks are often overlooked”
Soosaipillai, a certified chartered accountant, joined from GAM where she held a similar position.
