Aviva has appointed Jonathan Parker to oversee the investment strategy of its master trust.
Parker, who runs his own investment consultancy firm, took on the new role at Aviva Master Trust on 10 December.
Prior to his appointment, one of Aviva's in-house investment specialists provided support to the master trust, which is also advised by KPMG.
Commenting on his appointment, he said he was excited to join during "a time of considerable change".
"I have always had an involvement with, and interest in, regulatory matters through my work in product design, regulated advice and interactions with customers and governance bodies," he said.
"I am excited about the opportunity with Aviva as it is a fascinating role at a time of considerable change in the pensions industry. The importance of delivering value and good outcomes for customers has never been greater as millions of new savers experience pensions for the first time."
Pensions governance manager Stuart Gash added: "I'm delighted that Jonathan is joining the Aviva Master Trust board. He brings with him many years of investment experience in the pensions industry, having worked at senior levels within product providers, asset managers, and advisory and consulting firms."
Parker was previously at Dimension Fund Advisors, where he was head of defined contribution from 2014 to 2016, and Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, where he was head of investment proposition from 2013 to 2014.
From 2008 to 2013, he was head of corporate wealth investment strategy at Zurich Financial Services, and from 2001 to 2008 a senior investment consultant at Watson Wyatt, now known as Willis Towers Watson.
Six members of Ross Trustees’ pension trustee and support teams have been promoted into new roles.
