Uptick in number of registered deaths in 2023, figures show

The number of registered deaths in 2023 increased by 0.7% compared to those recorded in 2022, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The ONS's data showed 581,363 deaths were registered in England and Wales last year, an increase of 4,203 over the previous year and 27,528 more than the five-year average from 2017 to 2022, exclud...
