Defined benefit (DB) schemes could have an aggregate surplus by 2021 under Pension Protection Fund (PPF) projections, its strategic plan for 2018 to 2021 reveals.

While this is a positive projection for funding, the lifeboat fund also predicts 60% of the 5,588 schemes in the DB universe will remain in deficit, still posing a risk to the PPF if claims are made...
