Parliament gives go-ahead to Spain's pensions freeze

SPAIN - The Spanish congress eked through a freeze on state pensions for 2011 by only one vote as the country implements a package of emergency measures to tackle its deficit.

The measures - part of a royal decree already in place but which needed to be validated by the parliament - received 169 votes in favour and 168 votes against, while 13 parliamentarians abstained. ...
