LCP – Sole Mates 2025: A longitudinal survey of some 18 professional trustee firms in the sector. Isio – 2026 Professional Independent Trustee Survey: Isio's survey focuses on the ten larger firms with over 50 appointments each. It revealed the 10 largest professional trustee firms now oversee over £1trn in assets across 2,400 pension schemes, that their market share has grown from 39% in 2020 to 45% in 2025.
WTW – Professional Trustee Survey 2025: WTW's survey of 19 of the largest firms showed overall appointments grew 8% in the past year to reach 2,711, slowing from 11% the previous year.
Hymans Robertson – 2025 Sole Trustee Landscape Report: The report found that just over 40% of professional trustee appointments to DB schemes are now as sole trustee, with more than 10% growth in the use of sole trusteeship over the year.
Barnett Waddingham – Professional Trustee Survey 2026: The report builds on the previous year's survey with a deeper look at corporate sole trustees, value for money, and the satisfaction rates of those who work with professional trustees, drawing on over 290 responses from member-nominated trustees, employer-nominated trustees, company representatives and pension managers across a range of scheme sizes.
